Phillies' Aaron Nola: Facing hitters Saturday
Nola will throw 35 pitches against live hitters Saturday and throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Nola will face hitters for the first time since being placed on the injured list May 16. If all goes well in the live session and subsequent bullpen, he could embark upon a minor-league rehab assignment. Nola is expected to require multiple rehab starts before being cleared, making a mid-August return likely.

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Back in lineup post-ASB
Bohm is playing third base and batting fourth in Friday's game against the Angels, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Bohm didn't play in the Phillies' last game before the All-Star break due to a bruised left rib. After having the week to rest, Bohm is back in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Halos. He's slashing .281/.327/.395 in 379 plate appearances this season.

Phillies' Matthew Fisher: Snagged by Phillies in Round 7
The Phillies selected Fisher with the 221st overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
An athletic, projectable 6-foot-3 righty from Indiana, Fisher has all the ingredients to turn into a mid-rotation starter. He was a star quarterback in high school and his velocity has steadily ticked up, sitting in the low-90s his senior year. Fisher also has a knack for spinning the ball, with his curveball and slider showing above-average potential. Given his athleticism and easy delivery, evaluators expect Fisher to throw enough strikes to start. He turned 19 in March, so he's one of the older players in his class. Fisher was expected to come off the board on the first night, so the Phillies will presumably be giving him a well over-slot bonus.

Phillies' Taijuan Walker: Awarded another start
Walker is slated to make his next start Saturday against the Angels in Philadelphia, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
After the Phillies optioned Mick Abel to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on July 4, Walker stepped in last week to fill the vacant rotation spot. Though he had made each of his previous nine appearances out of the bullpen, Walker came through with a strong showing July 8 in San Francisco, limiting the Giants to one run on two hits and two walks over four innings. Walker will likely have a longer leash during Saturday's contest, and he should be able to maintain a spot in the rotation until Aaron Nola (ankle/rib) is ready to return from the 60-day injured list around early or mid-August.

Phillies' Gabe Craig: Fifth-round selection
The Phillies have selected Craig with the 161st overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
Craig turned 24 earlier this month and is one of the older real prospects in this draft. His mid-80s slider is at least a plus pitch and has huge sweep. Craig is 6-foot-5, 209 pounds and boasts a low-to-mid-90s fastball. He will likely be fast-tracked as a reliever and has ninth-inning upside.

Phillies' Sean Youngerman: Plucked by Philly
The Phillies have selected Youngerman with the 131st overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
The 6-foot-3 right-hander worked as both a starter and reliever for Oklahoma State, and he pitched well in both roles with a 2.08 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 59:8 K:BB over 59 innings. Youngerman can touch 96 mph with his fastball but will need to improve the command of his secondary offerings, particularly his slider.

Phillies' Cody Bowker: Drafted by Phillies
The Phillies have selected Bowker with the 100th overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
Bowler's low-90s fastball actually plays like a plus pitch thanks to it's high spin and low arm slot. He'll need to improve his secondary offerings and control, as his 8.9 percent walk rate this spring for Vanderbilt was his best mark in three years of college.

Phillies' Cade Obermueller: Popped by Phillies
The Phillies have selected Obermueller with the 63rd overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
Obermueller's walk rate was over 15 percent his first two years at Iowa, but he he had a breakout junior year, logging a 3.02 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 23.9 K-BB% in 83.1 innings across 15 starts for the Hawkeyes. Not only did his strike throwing improve this spring (15.2 BB% in 2024, 9.0 BB% in 2025), but his fastball ticked up and now sits 91-94 mph while touching 98 mph with excellent metrics. His low-80s slider is arguably his best pitch, and Obermueller would have a clear future in relief based on those two pitches if his control regresses or his 6-foot, 170-pound frame doesn't hold up under a starter's workload. The slight southpaw will also need to sharpen up his third-pitch changeup to stick in the rotation.

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Registers steal in win
Stott went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Padres.
Stott is off to a quiet start in July, going 5-for-30 (.167) with three walks over nine games to begin the month. His theft Sunday was his first of the month and his 14th of the year on 17 chances, which is a bit of a decline after he posted back-to-back 30-steal campaigns the last two seasons. The 27-year-old has added a .234/.303/.333 slash line with six home runs, 38 RBI, 38 runs scored, nine doubles and two triples over 86 contests.

Phillies' Matt Strahm: Secures save Sunday
Strahm walked two in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Padres.
Strahm threw just seven of 16 pitches for strikes, but he was able to avoid giving up a run to preserve a thin lead. He's on a six-inning scoreless streak, during which he has picked up two saves and one hold while adding a 7:4 K:BB. Strahm is at a 3.29 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 44:12 K:BB with six saves, 10 holds and four blown saves over 38.1 innings this season. The Phillies' closer role is a committee at this point, but Strahm has been more reliable than Jordan Romano or Orion Kerkering in recent weeks.
